Finally!

Got the okay to shadow at a dental office here in town!
Just bought my first pair of scrubs (they are being washed now) and I am on my way to get this career rolling!

Still Trying...

To get in at a dental office to shadow for my degree requirements.

Never imagined it would be this difficult.

Throw in seasonal allergies and anxiousness to start new classes and you can start to understand why I am annoyed.

Yes, I know that I am being winy.

Yes, I know this is a first-world problem and I really have nothing to complain about.

I am just frustrated so bear with me for a few seconds.

In a Funk

The past couple days I have been in a blue funk.
Mainly because I miss my Texas friends.


Nailed it.

Music...

So it turns out... I like country music.
Growing up in a suburb of a major metropolitan city anyone who liked country was deemed not cool and illiterate, so naturally I didn't really give it much of a chance.
My first tastes of country music was through my mom when she would listen to Keith Urban in her car. I liked it but wouldn't admit it to anyone except her.



When I moved to Oklahoma it was a bit harder to escape country music since it is played frequently in all manner of places here. So my palette of country music expanded to include new and old country.

So today I was itching to get out of the house so I went with my dad to Home Depot and then asked if we could stop by Barnes & Noble so I could get some CDs.
Turns out the Barnes & Noble by our house is a smaller one and doesn't have a section dedicated to music and movies, so I got three books instead (because I just have a hard time leaving a book store empty handed).

Then I asked if we could go to the Hastings off of the main drag, since they would surely have CDs.

Made it out with exactly ten CDs, not all country though.

Not bad if I do say so myself. I could have kept going because my dad was looking in the classic rock section and I love a lot of the same bands that he does but I stopped myself when I couldn't hold anymore CDs in one hand (the same way that I made it out of the book store with only three books).

Now you know my dirty-little-city-girl secret.

Books

Well I have officially run out of "bookshelves" for my books.
Now I am putting books on any flat surface but pretty soon I will run out of flat surfaces. :-/


I should probably take a box full to the storage unit to join my childhood books (i.e. Harry Potter, Classic story books, etc.) but I also have a hard time choosing which ones to send away.
What I want to read that book in a week or so?
(First world problems, I know.)
Any who, well I know what I will be doing for the next couple of hours.

Tornadoes

So I live in Oklahoma and we just got hit with a couple pretty big tornadoes within the last couple of days.
My family and I were lucky and suffered no damages or injuries.
We watched the tornado touch down and then continue to move across the state for over 30 minutes tearing a path of absolute destruction in it's wake.







Several schools were hit or damaged including one that still contains several children, my heart breaks for those families who have yet to find their children in the debris.

I give my most humble thanks to the rescue men and woman that risk their lives to help people in need.

Shadowing...

So before I can apply for the dental program in December I have to have 40 hours of observation at a practice.

I have called three places so far and are waiting for the first one to call me back whether or not I could come in.

I am going to be pretty annoyed if I got dressed and put my make-up on today if I don't get a chance to see one of these places.

Officially...

Spring semester is officially over and right now I, tentatively, have all A's.

Microbiology is the only class that I might get a B in mainly because it will depend on where my teacher will tack on the attendance bonus points.
I did get a 97% on the lecture final, which I was super happy to see.

Now I have a couple weeks to get some stuff done before starting the summer session.

I will probably be completely brain dead after the summer mainly because I will be attempting to take Chemistry, the Chemistry lab and Medical Terminology in two months time.

Supernatural...

I have a friend who's guilty-little-girl-pleasure is watching supernatural and he tired to get me to watch it a while back.

I prefer Eureka or Warehouse 13 myself, mainly because they are seriously silly in a good way.
Plus I can't stand movies/tv shows where actual people pretend to be vampires, so cheesy.

Anywho, I came across this picture and it made me think of my friend.

Yup.

I made a book.
Bam.

Granted it is just a shutterfly photo book, well actually two, one for my Mom for Mother's day with pictures of my nephew and one for myself.

My book is of pictures that I have taken that I am particularly fond of.
This one was just of people, the next one will probably be of flowers and landscapes that I have taken.

I feel accomplished.
Silly I know but still fun.

Cheese...

Yup, cheese.

Turns out goat cheese soaked in red wine is quite tasty.

 

Drunken goat is the name.
